The founding president of Youth for Health and Development of Africa – YOHEDA, Dr. Hemes Nkwa, was satisfied when she revealed the strides of the digital platform dub “YOHEDA Care”. She was speaking during a media workshop aimed at presenting advancements of the plateform.

“We are happy to have ameliorated the living conditions of over a hundred vulnerable people in different communities across Cameroon,” says Hemes Nkwa.

The media workshop that held on the 6th of December 2024 falls within the framework of the project “Restoring Health, Hope and Rights – RHHaR”, of the organization.

During the workshop, a detailed presentation on the state of vulnerable people in Cameroon was made by a psychologist, Micarême Titcho, as well as actions and results achieved so far since the launch of the RHHaR project. The project saw the light of the day thanks to support from the government of Canada.

“We chose to support this project because it has immediate impacts on communities,” says Richard Le BARS, Political Adviser at the Canadian High Commission in Yaounde.

YOHEDA Care

YOHEDA Care is an online assistance for vulnerable persons in Cameroon and beyond. It provides a platform where they can have access to medical experts for their different mental health issues. It equally provides mental health information on a daily basis.

During discussions on the functioning of the platform, the difference between mental and health care was clearly elaborated.

The particularity of the platform is that it is participatory with a mental health quiz option for users to test their state of mental health. Users have the laxity to request for assistance from a network of medical experts and book appointments at their convenience. The platform is built on secured software that assures the safety of their data in the system and their consultations with the medical personnel.

“The idea behind the platform is to accompany those feeling rejected in hospitals, and give them a way out,” says Dr Hemes Nkwa.

“The particularity is also of its holistic approach, bringing all actors on board, with focus on health information and medical information.”
