The bilingual academic institution, Institut Polyvalent Wagué celebrated the 24th edition of World Philosophy Day under the theme “Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence”. Students, teachers, and a distinguished guest gathered to explore how philosophy remains vital in the digital era.

Blaise Dami, principal of Institut Polyvalent Wagué, emphasized:
“The goal is to show our students that philosophy is real, practical, and essential. Philosophers are not fools, as some may think — they ask questions that help us navigate life and technology responsibly.”

The highlight of the day was Prof. Issoufou Soulé MOUCHILI NJIMOM, a university professor and philosophy researcher.

He explained that AI, no matter how advanced, cannot replace human judgment, ethical reasoning, or critical thinking.

“Philosophy guides how we ask why and how, helping us use technology responsibly,” he said, connecting classical philosophical reflection with modern technological challenges.

Students were inspired. Anyouzoa Flore Bayo, president of the Philosophy Club, shared:
“I used to think philosophy was only about debates, but today I see how it shapes our future — how we create technology and remain human.”

The event sparked lively discussions on AI ethics, moral responsibility, and the human role in a rapidly evolving digital world.

For the Institut Polyvalent Wagué, World Philosophy Day is a tradition of nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, and reflection.

By inviting experts to engage directly with students, the school demonstrates that philosophy has a central role even in the age of artificial intelligence.

Worth noting is the fact that Institute Polyvalent Wagué is currently constructing an Artificial Intelligence laboratory in the school premises.
