CAIWOF sets the ball rolling for Mbororo girls to resume school

Over 40 indigenous Mbororo girls from Yaounde and Bamenda have received an important donation of didactic materials.

The timely donation handed to the beneficiaries last Friday in Yaounde, were offered by the Cameroon Indigenous Women’s Forum, CAIWOF ahead of new school year which begins today.

The donation which has been hailed by many, is considered timely as it has succour the burdens of the Mbororo parents’ in preparing their children for school resumption.

The organization led by Bouba Aeisatu, also awarded cash price of 25,000FCFA each to some seven girls. The girls were outstanding in their results during the  last official examinations.

Sadatou Biri, one of the laureates of the scholarship, passed in 11 subjects at the GCE Ordinary Level. The young star while receiving her package expressed joy and gratitude to the benefactor.

“I am really happy that I am celebrated for my efforts, this means a lot to me because it means that there are people out there who are willing to support me and I need to have the consciousness to make them proud” Sadatou said.

“For this, I promise that in this academic year I will be the 1st  in my class” she added.

Her joy is also shared by Hashiatu Ibrahim who will be sitting for the GCE Ordinary Levels. She sounded excitement to resume school after receiving the school materials.

“This goes directly to my heart, it’s so touching that we are seeing people who are so ready to help us and are happy to see us grow to  become better in the future” Hashiatu told News Upfront.

“It’s also a challenge for me to work harder so I can get greater results at the end” she further said.

Speaking during donation exercise, CAIWOF’s National Coordinator, Mrs Bouba Aeisatu hailed her partners for their unwavering support. she continue by explaining how her NGO  has been at the forefront of the intellectual development of these young girls through  numerous capacity workshops tailored to that end and by so doing they have been able to identify their various career choices.

“This materials is going to go along way to help these young girls in pursuing their dreams, you know things are very difficult at this moment given the fact that we have Covid-19 that has brought down  many parents. We feel that by supporting these girls,  they will be able to also reduce the burden on their parents and it’s also a way for us to help keep the girls in school and to avoid early and force marriages”.

“We are very happy about their last years results and we are hereby encouraging them to continue the good work that they are doing” she stated.
