The IsDB’s funding has injected new life into the region, with 24 subdivisions benefiting from critical infrastructure projects.
From rehabilitating schools and healthcare facilities to promoting sociocultural activities, the bank’s support is helping to rebuild the very fabric of communities.
“We are committed to supporting the people of Cameroon in their time of need,” said Mohammadou Awal, IsDB Field Representative.
“Our funding is designed to have a tangible impact on the lives of those affected by the crisis.”
The impact is already being felt. In Boyo Division, three schools have been successfully rehabilitated, providing a safe and supportive learning environment for hundreds of students.
In Donga-Mantung Division, the rehabilitation of the CBC Hospital in Ndu has restored critical healthcare services to the community.
In addition, the IsDB’s funding has supported the implementation of sociocultural activities in 17 councils, promoting community engagement and social cohesion.
These initiatives have helped to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose among local residents, who have been torn apart by conflict and displacement.
However, challenges persist. Security concerns and logistical hurdles continue to pose obstacles to project implementation.
The region’s rugged terrain and limited infrastructure make it difficult to access remote areas, while the ongoing conflict has created a climate of uncertainty and fear.
But with the IsDB’s support and the determination of local communities, the Northwest Region is slowly but surely rising from the ashes.
As one local resident noted, “We have been through dark times, but with the IsDB’s help, we are starting to see a glimmer of light. We are rebuilding our communities, and we are rebuilding our hope.”
The IsDB’s commitment to Cameroon’s reconstruction efforts is a testament to the bank’s dedication to promoting sustainable development and human dignity.
As the Northwest Region continues on its path to recovery, the IsDB’s support will remain a vital component of the region’s revitalization.
“We are proud to be part of this effort,” said Awal. “We will continue to work tirelessly to support the people of Cameroon and help them build a brighter future.”
