Healthy Information Technology Awareness (HITA) is the 2023 /2024 most impactful Non Governmental Organization. The NGO received the award during the Life Time Achievement Award ceremony in Bamenda on June 8, 2024 2024. The Executive Director of HITA, King Suh, received the award on behalf of HITA.
“This award is like a trigger to enable us do more than what we have been doing for the sake of our community,” King Suh said.
The NGO was singled out by the Life Time Media Group following it’s outstanding services in Bamenda and beyond.
HITA uses ICT to impact communities through free vocational trainings and by providing start-up kits to community actors.
Countless numbers of young and vulnerable persons have received trainings in fashion designing, vertical agriculture, hair dressing, barbing, just to name but these. All of them have also received fundings to set up their own businesses.
“We are doing all these from our personal financial contributions,” King Suh told News Upfront.
“Our joy is to serve our community.”
Besides these, HITA has also made available free water supply around New Road Bamenda, and has provided accommodation for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) among others.
This is not the first award the organization is winning. During the 10th anniversary celebration of the Newswatch Newspaper in Yaounde last year 2023, the NGO was presented with the prestigious award of sustained involvement in community mobilization.
According to King Suh, it is fruits of collective action.
“The team has been very amazing, and our aim is to continue impacting our people in a positive way,” he said
