As Cameroon prepares to celebrate Customs Day, customs officials from the Littoral I and II sectors gathered in Douala on Tuesday, January 14, for a sensitization meeting on the fight against corruption.
The meeting served as a reminder to officials to remain committed to the principles of ethics and professional deontology, emphasizing the importance of integrity in their daily work.
One of the take home messages was that “Corruption has no place in our ranks”. The officials agrees to work together to promote transparency and accountability, and to ensure that their actions reflect the highest standards of professionalism.
The sensitization meeting is part of the Cameroon Customs Administration’s ongoing efforts to promote transparency and accountability, particularly in the lead-up to Customs Day celebrations.
Customs Day, celebrated annually on January 26, aims to recognize the critical role that customs officials play in facilitating trade, collecting revenue, and protecting national borders.
This year’s celebrations will be marked by a series of events and activities, including sensitization campaigns, training workshops, and community outreach programs and open door days that will run from January 22 to 27, 2025 in Yaounde.
By renewing their commitment to ethics and transparency, Cameroon’s customs officials are helping to promote a culture of integrity and accountability that benefits the entire nation.
