Story, Louvier Kindo Tombe

The General Manager of CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, during the celebration of the 138th International Labour Day at Club CAMTEL in Yaounde did not mix words when she frowned at the numerous vices gaining grounds within the company.

Respect of the internal rules and regulations of the company she said is becoming a cause for concern.

“Many are guilty of disregarding our rules and standards, from basic requirements like wearing a badge, which is mandatory, to following the dress code, with some staff becoming increasingly unkempt and or provocative in their dressing,” she said.

Besides dressing, absenteeism is also taking roots in the company with some staff hiding behind fanciful bed rest prescriptions.

“Such situations will henceforth be thoroughly scrutinized by our company doctors,” The General Manager told the staff.

“Theft of equipment is on the rise and severe sanctions will be applied on anyone who is found guilty.”

By addressing these vices, Judith Yah Sunday, was indirectly calling for a change of mentality, which will contribute to the growth of the company.

“Failing to respect these principles compromises not only our operational efficiency, but also our reputation and integrity as an entity,” Judith Yah Sunday said.

According to her, responsability, integrity, commitment, professionalism, team spirit, quality, innovation, patriotism, and Non-discrimination, should be principles guiding the daily actions of the personnel.

Following the trend

Addressing the staff during the ceremony, the GM said “the labour world evolves rapidly and CAMTEL should adapt in order to remain competitive and pertinent”.

She however saluted the hard work and progress made so far by office staff and field workers. “Together we have overcome huddles, made progress and set excellent standards that CAMTEL can be proud of”.

Madam Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, promised the personnel that the management of the company will stop at nothing to provide responses and solutions to their challenges.

“You can rest assure that Top Management is resolved to do its part and honour its commitments”.

As a leader in the telecom sector, CAMTEL is aware of the duty towards its employees, its customers, and the society as a whole. That is why the incumbent telecommunications operator alway strive to ensure that its policies and actions reflect the values of social responsibility and patriotism.

To spice up the event, renowned artists were invited to celebrate with the personnel of CAMTEL.

The commemoration of the International Labour Day 2024, it should be noted was within the framework of the 25 years of existence of CAMTEL.
