The donations made by the civil society organization falls in line with their actions for social, economic, environmental, and climate justice.
The project was developed following the destruction of fruits trees in their communities during the construction of an electricity supply line.
The idea behind the distribution is to assist the communities to reforest the damaged hut orchards over a distance of around 30 kms. The seedlings distributed were mainly plum and avocado (pear) trees.
More than 300 community members made up of children, young people, adults, men and women benefited from the exercise each receiving at least 8 seedlings. The activity took place on Sunday May 12, 2024.
By offering fruit trees to the communities, RADD is providing a consistent means of living with a strong economic impact on the inhabitants.
The inhabitants it should be noted are grouped under a development association known as ‘Yembarack en marche’.
The distribution exercise was supported by the Esse Council with the Mayor, Ndongo BOUNI Martin, present during the exercise. He praised the initiators of the project adding that his council will alway stand by them.
The Mayor seized the occasion to announce the creation of an initiative in the locality known as “Bois de Femmes”, which would be spearheaded by RADD, Yembarack en Marche, and the Convergence of Women of Cameroon for Climate Change (COFECCC), which is the umbrella organization behind the concept.
At the end of the activity, the different leaders encouraged the beneficiaries to not only plant the seedlings, but to monitor their progress.
