The government of Cameroon has conferred its highest national honour, the Grand Cordon of the Cameroonian Merit, on the late David Abouem à Tchoyi, a distinguished government official who passed away on January 15.
The posthumous award, which is the country’s highest distinction, was presented during Abouem à Tchoyi’s official funeral, which was attended by high-ranking government officials, dignitaries, and family members.
The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM party, Abouem à Tchoyi’s political family, and the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, where he served before his demise all paid their respects to the late government official.
In a tribute to Abouem à Tchoyi, Communication Minister René Emmanuel Sadi described him as an exceptional and remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on Cameroon’s history.
Abouem à Tchoyi’s family remembered him as a devoted, responsible, and caring father who will be deeply missed.
Abouem à Tchoyi, who served as Secretary-General at the Presidency of the Republic, was a highly respected figure in Cameroonian politics.

As Governor of the Northwest and Southwest provinces, Abouem à Tchoyi had a deep understanding of the socio-political challenges facing these regions.
