The Cameroon Customs Administration has launched a comprehensive anti-corruption drive aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in its operations.
According to the Customs Newsletter N°644, the administration has implemented various measures to combat corruption, including the creation of a whistleblower hotline (8044), the publication of customs procedures and regulations, and the establishment of a code of conduct for customs personnel.
Other initiatives include the deployment of digital technologies, such as the Cameroon Customs Information System (CAMCIS) and the NEXUS+ Cameroon Customs GPS, to reduce human interaction and increase transparency in customs operations.
The customs administration has also strengthened its partnership with other stakeholders, including the private sector and civil society organizations, to promote a culture of integrity and accountability.
The anti-corruption drive has already yielded positive results, including an increase in revenue collection, improved service delivery, and enhanced transparency and accountability.
