Cameroon’s Muslim community has thrown its weight behind President Paul Biya’s bid for re-election in October 2025.
The community praised Biya’s management of the country, particularly in maintaining security and stability.
The Muslim leaders cited several reasons for their endorsement, including Biya’s consistent financial support to Muslim pilgrims traveling to Mecca. This gesture, they said, demonstrates Biya’s commitment to the well-being of all Cameroonians, regardless of their faith.
Additionally, the Muslim community appreciated Biya’s efforts to promote interfaith dialogue and understanding in Cameroon.
They noted that under Biya’s leadership, the country has maintained a reputation for religious tolerance and coexistence.
The Lamido of Garoua, Ibrahim El Rachidine, presented a motion of support to the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, highlighting the Muslim community’s appreciation for Biya’s policies and actions.

Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji expressed his gratitude to the Muslim community for their endorsement of President Paul Biya’s re-election bid.
He promised to promptly present their motion to the head of state, demonstrating his commitment to facilitating open communication between the government and various community groups.
The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji plays a crucial role in developing and implementing government policies related to territorial administration, civil protection, and election monitoring.
His position requires him to engage with diverse communities, including the Muslim population, to ensure their concerns are addressed and their support is maintained.
This development comes after Traditional Rulers in Cameroon also declared their support for Biya’s re-election, paving the way for a broad coalition of support for the incumbent president.
