The Chinese Telecom giant, Huawei, has broadened it’s scope of action in Cameroon by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the African Computer Institute (IAI) and the higher institute of training (IFTC-SUP) relative to the effective transfer of skills in the field of Information and Communication Technologies, as well as mastery of Huawei technology to Cameroonian students.

The signing took place on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Nkolanga campus of IAI.

The move is considered as an added value which, in the opinion of the students of the IAI and the IFTIC-Sup, like Membou Jefferson, is the icing on the cake, at a time when Information Technology is in the process making strides.

To the Director of Public Relations at Huawei, CEMAC zone, Edmonde Djiokeng, who signed on behalf of the company, it is a question of sharing knowledge with the youngest so that they are much more integrated in the world of employment, and so that they are much more ready to work, move towards the development of start-ups which is a sector that is gaining momentum in Cameroon today.

Huawei, he disclosed is ready to support the academic and partner institutions of the program.

From all indications, it is obvious that the repercussions of this agreement will be enormous for these two establishments involved and their students in terms of international credibility, especially since this training will be crowned in the end by obtaining Huawei certifications.

The resident representative of IAI in Cameroon, Armand Claude Abanda, who doubles as Board Chair of IFTC-SUP expressed satisfaction with the deal.

“For our students, it is a question of training in Huawei technologies, it is very important for our students to have facilities. in partnerships with global tech giants. As you know, Huawei serves as a global technology giant that we want to share with students and educators. Our students will have the opportunity to invent, create and develop their country through the transfer of skills that is done so well with Huawei. This is why I would like here to thank once again the Managing Director of Huawei in Cameroon”. He said.

The CEO of Huawei-Cameroon, Mr. DU YIN, was on the same wavelength and corroborated with the IAI representative during the press briefing that sanctioned the signing of the Memo.

“The agreement that we have just signed with IAI and IFTIC-Sup, is very important, for it will enable Cameroonian students to acquire knowledge in the field of ICT, and to comply with international standards.” he noted.

Mr. DU YIN added that with this memorandum his company does not intend to stop there because in the days to come, it is likely that several agreements of this type will be signed with other academic institutions.

Huawei has been promoting the transfer of ICT competences in Cameroon since 2016 with several academic institutions already benefiting from the “Huawei ICT Académy” training which, it should be noted, is a strategic plan to develop local ICT talents, in response to the digital economy plan planned by President Paul Biya, and one of the tools for an emergent Cameroon by 2035.
