2020 African Caucus: Governors Resolve to Protect Human Capital

Five major recommendations were made at the end of the session that held Thursday August 6, 2020 through videoconference.

Special attention was given to the management of COVID-19 in the continent.

About 250 delegates from across Africa, World Bank and International Monetary Fund took part in the session.

The following recommendations were made at the end of the deliberations;

1) The need to ameliorate / make good use of foreign aid during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

2) The need to reinforce service delivery in the health, education, water, and social protection sectors.

3) The need to consolidate macro budget policies of governance.

4) The need to upgrade contracts in the public and private sectors.

5) The need to lobby for more African representatives in the Bretton Woods Institutions.

Governors during the videoconference

The 2020 African Caucus held on the theme;

“Protecting Africa’s Human Capital in the face of COVID-19: Saving Lives, Preserving Well-being, and Safeguarding Productivity and Jobs”.

It was placed on the distinguished patronage of the President of the Republic of Cameroon, H. E. Paul Biya.

The opening was chaired by Prime Minister of Cameroon, Joseph Dion Ngute.
