Several houses have been demolished in the highly student residential area, “Bonamoussadi” in Yaounde.

The destruction concerned houses along the road from the entrance of the residential area to around the lake side zone in the quarter.

Most of those who have been affected from this incident are business men and women including few students.

These vendors are now stranded as they lack where to go and start up with their business.

While some people are already looking for new places, others have parked their goods in their various homes with a hope of re-establishing back after the construction of the road.

The victims are accusing the government for poor communication. They say they were not notified before the destruction but taken by suprise.

As many accused the Government, others have welcomed the initiative saying the gesture is a good one because it’s for development.

On their part, the business men and women say if the road passes it will help them sell more.

Many however remain in doubts if the project will be realized, reason being that similar destruction was done in 2002 and was later abandoned.

According to the Yaounde 3 council Authorities, the demolition process is to link “Bonamoussadi” road to a Government Hospital situated at “Mateco” in the University of Yaounde 1.

All hopes are now to see the road constructed.

It should be noted that similar destructions will in the days ahead be carried on the road between Kameni in Obili passing through Franky Secondary High school to Mary Land traveling agency Biyem-assi.
