UNDP Organizes Professional Orientations Fair for Cameroonian Youths

The two days Professional Orientation Fair organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, took place at the Ekounou campus of the Catholic University of Central Africa in Yaounde on September 17, 18, 2021.

“The objective of the professional orientation fair is to offer an opportunity for young people to interact with enterprises, experts, and academic institutions of their choice to get firsthand information for a successful career path or business journey.” Alassane Ba, deputy Resident Representative of the UNDP in Cameroon told journalists at the end of the opening ceremony Friday September 17, 2021 in Yaoundé.

The orientation fair was also opened to parents who are often the first role models and decision makers in the lives of these young people as they try to make suitable career or business choices for themselves.

The goal of the UNDP Accelerator Lab which organized the event was to enhance government’s effort towards empowering Cameroonian youth.

The representative of the government of Cameroon at the event, who came from the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training said youth employment is primordial in government’s actions.

He praised the organization of the professional orientation fair, and called in the students and parents present to make good use of it in order to attract lucrative jobs and make business choices there after.

Students from secondary schools across the city of Yaounde were present at the fair.
