Two students from the ICT University have made waves in the tech world with their pioneering project, the “Futuring”.

The project, presented during the inaugural Technology Innovation Challenge held at the 16th ICT University for Africa Summit and Conference earned them a cash prize of 1 million CFA.

The grand prize of 1 million CFA francs was awarded to the project “Futuring,” developed by team members Tamighang Shalom and Nchankou Miguel.

“Futuring” addresses a critical issue in environmental sustainability by providing an innovative solution for clearing land of impurities, including plastic and other waste.

The project not only focuses on cleaning up the environment but also converts organic waste into bio-fertilizer. Additionally, the team transforms plastic waste into valuable by-products, such as diesel, cooking gas, bio-charcoal, and pavement materials.

The project is powered by the esteemed Professor Victor Mbarika, the President of the Board of Trustees at the ICT University, and was coordinated by Professor Fuluso Ayeni, who also serves as the Vice President in the same office.

Their guidance has been instrumental in bringing this innovative solution to fruition.

Another key project that was equally honoured was the Cessina Aircraft project.

The Cessina Aircraft is a multifaceted marvel designed to assist farmers in efficiently spreading fertilizer and water across vast farmlands.

Its versatility doesn’t stop there; it also doubles as a fire extinguisher for tall buildings affected by fire.

This innovative project showcases the potential of technology to solve pressing issues in various sectors, particularly in agriculture and emergency response.

The Technology Innovation Challenge, initiated by the ICT University, aims to stimulate new technological ideas and encourage young minds to become creators and problem solvers.

Professor Fuluso Ayeni, an official from the ICT University, present at the ceremony, emphasized the significance of this innovative challenge in fostering creativity among the youth.

“This Technology Innovation Challenge will stimulate new technological ideas, encouraging our youth to become creators and problem solvers,” he stated.

The event was a testament to the ICT University’s commitment to fostering partnerships and driving innovation.

Recently, the university signed a partnership agreement with the government of Brazil, valued at nearly 1 million USD, aimed at enhancing technological and educational initiatives.

The competition awarded prizes to encourage participation and recognition of talent, with the winners receiving cash prizes of 1 million CFA for first place, 500,000 CFA for second place, and 250,000 CFA for third place.

Professor Victor Mbarika, Founder and President of the Board of Trustees at the ICT University, pledged to increase the prize amounts in future editions, stating,

“Next year, we will raise the stakes: 2 million CFA for the first winner, 1 million for the second, and 500,000 for the third.”
