In a bold move, Prof. Victor Mbarika, founder of the ICT University, has challenged 200 Cameroonians to join him in investing one trillion FCFA in the country’s economy.
The announcement comes on the heels of President Biya’s Youth Day speech, which emphasized the crucial role of the private sector in reducing unemployment.
Prof. Mbarika, a renowned expert in ICT, praised the president’s speech, saying it highlighted the importance of higher education and entrepreneurship.
However, he noted that the government alone cannot provide employment to all citizens, and that the private sector must take the lead.
To tackle unemployment, Prof. Mbarika is calling on 200 Cameroonians to invest 5 billion FCFA each over the next ten years.
He believes that this collective effort can bring about significant change and provide employment opportunities for young people.
The ICT University is also launching an agriculture project that will employ over 4,000 people over the next decade.
Prof. Mbarika emphasized that agriculture is a lucrative venture that can bring wealth and prosperity to young people.
“I am throwing a one trillion FCFA challenge. That is money I am putting in. I am challenging 200 businessmen and diasporans to put in the same money. Let’s develop Cameroon in our own small way,” Prof. Mbarika said.
With this initiative, Prof. Mbarika is poised to make a significant impact on Cameroon’s economy and provide opportunities for young people to thrive.
