A 24-year-old woman is under arrest accused of slaughtering her own child.

The population of Badjengo village in Pitoa Sub Division, Benoue Division of the North region are still to come to terms with the tragic discovery.

Human parts of a 6-month-old child were seen inside a cooking pot and a bucket.

The child’s mother, identified as Salamatou, wife of a certain Amadou is accused of killing and chopping the baby into parts ready to cook.

News Upfront gathered that the alarm was raised by the woman’s elder child (2 years old) who ran out to neighbours upon watching her mother in the gruesome act.

Gendarme officers arresting the accused

Other sources indicate that the woman actually killed two of her children and cooked some of the body parts.

Elements of the Gendarmerie Territorial Brigade in Pitoa immediately rushed to the compound and arrested the woman.

Investigations are underway to determine what must have pushed the woman into commiting the act.

The act, condemned by many, was committed Monday night.
