The German Ambassador to Cameroon, Dr. Corinna Fricke, predicts riots and closure of airports on the day.

According to the Ambassador, the situation could be more serious than expected. In a message to German citizens, she wrote;

“Attention: Political rallies are planned for the 22 – 9 – 2020 in the larger cities of Cameroon, especially Douala and Yaounde. There may be riots in the demonstrations”

“Please avoid the inner cities on 22 – 9 – 2020 and do not plan to arrive by plane for this day as there is a risk of airport closure in Yaounde and Douala”

The Protests

The announced protests from the CRM party is aimed at ousting the Head of State, Paul Biya.

To the CRM scribe, Prof Maurice Kamto, the government has failed in managing issues of the state, and it’s time for a political transition

The government of Cameroon is leaving no stone unturned in trying to neutralise the protests.

Some opposition political parties have taken sites with the protesters while a group of civil society organizations have distant themselves from it.
