Judith Yah promotes peace, unity through football

The General Manager of CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi continues to promote peace and unity in Donga Mantung Division of the North West region of Cameron through football and related activities.

The fourth edition of the football tournament organized by the General Manager of CAMTEL, Mafor Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi has been launched. The launching took place at the Municipal Stadium of the Nkambe Central Sub Division on June 16, 2024. The kick-off was given in the presence of administrative, religious and traditional authorities who all praised and express gratitude to Madam Judith Yah Sunday for her efforts in building peace in the Division and for promoting national unity.

To the Fon of Nkambe, HRH, Fon Amidu, “Judith Yah Sunday is using football to achieve objectives that go beyond the practice of sports to build social cohesion, national integration and enhancing peace”. 

“Football brings people together and breaks barriers between youths and other community members,” says HRH Fon Stanley of Njap who equally attending the launch of the tournament.

The tournament dubbed “Mafor Yah Judith Epse Achidi Peace and Unity Football, Donga Mantung” is a good opportunity for the population to interact with people from different villages and social backgrounds, thus transforming tensions into relationships.

Speaking during the launch, the focal point for Nkambe Central and member of the local organizing committee, Tamnjong Richard Ndi, said “the General Manager of CAMTEL, Mafor Yah Judith espse Achidi has proven beyond reasonable doubts that what a man can do, a woman can do it even better”. 

The tournament

The Nkambe Municipal Stadium is usually jam-packed with football lovers from the nooks and crannies of the Division on match days. During each match, the sounds of gongs, vuvuzelas, and drums resonate across right into the hills of Njiseng and the lowlands of Bih, Njimptuh and Tabenken, emitting signals that the peace building process is gaining more steam.

The opening match of the tournament between Spartans of Bih, and Young Stars FC produced fireworks with Young Stars carrying the day 2-1. The different matches are been played in the various playgrounds in the entire Donga Mantung Division.

The Nkambe Central Sub Division Pool is made up of the following 8 football teams: Young Stars FC, Kungi FC, Early Birds International of Tabenken, Formation Sango FC, New Market FC, Spartans FC of Bih, Mangwang FC, Mansoh FC.

To the Sub Delegate for Sports and Physical Education, Ndah Victor, the tournament will equally serve as a nursery to build budding talents.
