The Memorandum of Understanding on the strategic training of Cameroonian ICT talents between the giant Telecom company Huawei and the National Advance School of Post, Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technology, SUP’PTIC has been renewed.

It was during a ceremony Thursday, March 25, 2021, in Yaoundé.

The Memo will run for 2021 and Hawei will train some 2000 Cameroonian students through its different ICT programs: “Huawei ICT Academy”, “Seeds For The Future”, “Huawei ICT Competition”.

The objective this year is to honour the promise made to the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Dion Ngute Joseph, by the President of Huawei for North Africa Region, Mr. Cio Jibin during his visit to Cameroon in October.

The trainings are dedicated to Universities, and students would have access to ICT courses taught by accredited Huawei instructors.

These trainings it should be noted started since 2018 and involve four eminent Cameroonian Institutions namely:

– National School of Post, Telecommunications, and Information and Communication Technologies, (SUP’PTIC),
– National Advanced School of Engineering, (ENSP), of the University of Yaoundé 1,
– IUC University Institute,
– The University of Douala.

In 2020, Huawei in partnership with these four (4) academic institutions trained nearly 1000 Cameroonian students in ICT.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Vice President of Huawei in charge of Public Relations for Sub Saharan and Northern regions, Loise Tamalgo, thanked the Director of SUP’PTIC, and recognised him with an award.

The Director Mr Felix Watching, overwhelmed with the award could not hide his feelings.

“This award is recognition of our efforts, the motivation to work more and keep the touch on. This award crowns two successful years of hard work. We plan to continue our training and why not double the funding by training more than 200 students so that graduates can be integrated into the job market. We think much more about the employability of young people” declared Mr Felix Watching adding that;

“We are waiting for Huawei to support us in setting up laboratories and even migrating to big data and doing research together. Huawei’s support under the tutelage of the Higher Education Ministry and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications will always be welcomed”.

The Chinese Telecom Giant, Huawei it should be noted was created in 1987 and has its head quarters in Shenzhen. It is a provider of digital solutions in terminals, networks and the cloud all destined for operators , businesses and consumers.

Huawei is equally leader in the market of smartphones, tablets, PCs and connected products created through its ICT Academy.

It’s products and solutions are deployed in over 170 countries across the world.
