Story, Louvier Kindo Tombe
In the heart of Central Africa, a revolution is brewing.
From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, the fifth edition of the Central African Peasant Seed Fair (FOSPAC) will converge in Essé, a locality in the Mefou and Adam a division of Cameroon’s Center region.
This pivotal event aims to fortify the bonds between generations, fostering a resilient and sustainable food system in the country and beyond.
The stakes are high, as the future of food sovereignty hangs in the balance.
Peasant Seed Systems (PSS) are the backbone of Central Africa’s agricultural heritage, yet they face numerous threats.
Climate change, regulatory frameworks, and market pressures all imperil the delicate balance of these systems.
FOSPAC 5 seeks to reclaim this heritage, mobilizing over 500 participants from 15 countries across Central and West Africa.

The event will showcase the rich diversity of peasant seeds, with over 400 exhibitors displaying their wares.
From organic inputs to local cuisine, the fair promises to be a sensory feast.
But FOSPAC 5 is more than just a celebration of peasant seeds – it’s a call to action.
Through workshops, panels, and cultural performances, participants will delve into the complexities of PSS.
They’ll explore innovative solutions, forge new alliances, and ignite a collective passion for agroecology.
As the world grapples with the challenges of sustainable development, FOSPAC 5 will offer a beacon of hope.
It is believed that by valuing peasant seeds and empowering the youth, we can pave the way for a food system that’s just, equitable, and resilient.
