The prize award ceremony took place in Garoua on Friday, August 4 as the best athletes in the various disciplines were rewarded for their talent and hard work throughout the games.

Bidding farewell to the various delegations, the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga congratulated them for their show of fair play and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

She hoped to see them with the same energy and enthusiasm for the next edition of the games which will take place in Limbe as the Olympic flame was handed to the delegation of the South West Region.

Games End In Blue

For one week, the sky in Garoua and Gaschiga was Blue as Camtel accompanied the athletes and spectators all through the games. The remarkable presence of Camtel through its flagship product Blue was felt throughout the games by the athletes and population of the North Region in various ways.

Across the region, it was difficult not to take note of the multiple banners announcing Camtel’s sponsorship of the tournament. Camtel supported the organisers and athletes throughout the games as it ensured a smooth and hitch-free end, attracting praises from every quarter.

According to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Secondary Education, Professor Fabien Nkot, Camtel has been the ideal partner in blending education and sports.

“Camtel is a privileged partner of Ministry of Secondary Education and we believe that its deployment, throughout these games, is commensurate with our expectations. You should know that the partnership between Camtel and Minesec is an old relationship. The Minister of Secondary Education has already the General Manager of Camtel at least twice within the framework of the Games which took place in Mvomeka’a as much as for these Games in Garoua and Gashiga. And today, we have seen the fruits of the partnership,” Prof Nkot said.

Camtel was not only there to support the athletes but also for the public that turned out massively to watch the games. Several persons went home smiling with prizes won from the mobile caravan teams that toured the games village and the town.

According to Marcellin Tsaam Gah, North Regional Representative of Camtel’s Business Unit Mobile, the objective was to give more vigour to the games but also use the opportunity to go closer to the customer base.

“We are happy to support the Ministry of Secondary Education give more energy to the games which have enabled young Cameroonians to reinforce the bond among themselves. During the games we gave our best and ensured Cameroonians live this fantastic experience though our various platforms by providing high speed and super-fast internet,” Tsaam Gah said.

With the Garoua page now closed, all eyes are now turned towards Limbe for the next edition of the games with the Ministry of Secondary Education keeping hopes Camtel plays a significant part once again.
