A consignment of Contraband goods was recently Seized and destroyed by customs officers in Douala.

The stock consisted of 13 tonnes of pharmaceutical products, seven tonnes of non_biodegradable plastic packaging, 37 boxes of cigarettes, 301 litres of hydrogen peroxide and 21,090 litres of hydrocarbon products.

According to statistics from the customs department, the Halcomi mission has already seized goods worth a total of FCFA 10 billion since the start of the year.

According to a study published in 2019 by the Halcomi mission, fraudulent practices, snuggling and counterfeiting cost the Cameroonian economy about FCFA 250 billion every year.
