CAMTEL’s digital services changing livelihood in Cameroon

The incumbent telecom operator has presented its achievements in digital transformation services and solutions that have contributed to change the life of Cameroonians.

Cameroon can today boast of vibrant online administrative services thanks to the implication of the national telecommunications company – CAMTEL.

The e-governance project run by the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform was materialized as a result of a fruitful collaboration with the telecom operator. Custom operations and tax payments are now possible online through CAMTEL’s digital services.

These and many more were presented to stakeholders and the general public during a conference in Yaounde on Wednesday July 24, 2024. It was on the occasion of the 13th edition of the fair on government’s actions – SAGO. CAMTEL is presents at the fair with unmatched services.

The conference focused on governance and the amelioration of the living conditions of Cameroonians. CAMTEL through a structured presentation demonstrated the company’s support in ameliorating the lives of Cameroonians thanks to a robust digital infrastructure patrimony.

With four sub marine cables having a total capacity of 1.793 Gbps, 12,800 KM of optic fibres deployed across the country and beyond, a certified data center, a fast growing mobile network just to name but these, the importance of the company cannot be over emphasized.

Speaking while opening the conference, the General Manager of CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, said CAMTEL has been playing a crucial role in the development of telecommunications services for the past 25 years, and the journey continues.

”State universities are interconnected and e-learning is made possible.”

The Health sector is one of the sectors that have benefitted much from digital transformation in the country. Security wise, CAMTEL has helped authorities in the prevention of banditry by installing over 3,000 surveillance cameras in major cities of the country.

The conference was also an occasion for CAMTEL to collects views and suggestions from stakeholders and the public on the way forward in making life better for Cameroonians. A Chadian delegation was present to tap from the rich experience of CAMTEL.

CAMTEL it should be noted is currently celebrating 25 years of existence through outstanding events that started since September 2023.
