The delegation of telecom scribes from neighbouring Equatorial Guinea is in Cameroon to tap from the rich experience of Camtel in the telecom sector. Led by the Director General of GETESA, Carlos Esono Mikó, the delegation members had a working session with their counterparts from Camtel, headed by the General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi.

For over two hours, the telecom experts discussed business cooperation ventures between both companies.

“We are here to share experiences, and the experience of Camtel will help us a lot,” Carlos Esono Mikó said.

The Director General of the leading telecom operator in Equatorial Guinea, pointed out some sectors that they would like to cooperate with Camtel, such as the Business Unit Transport (BUT) sector. Camtel is highly equipped to connect GETESA internationally.

The General Manager of Camtel revealed that “we have 5 submarine cables that connects Cameroon to the rest of the world, which gives us the opportunity to swap from one cable to the other when we have an issue”.

“The government of Cameroon has invested a lot in telecommunications infrastructure,” she said adding that it is not the case with other countries of the Central African sub region.

“We want to ensure that we utilize the infrastructure in making sure Camtel maintains its position as an international telecom hub in the sub region,” Judith Yah Sunday said.

The Equatoguinean state-owned telecom operator equally showed interest in developing roaming services with Camtel.

“My expectations are very high, I think in the future we are going to share more fruitful experiences,” Carlos Esono Mikó said.

The visiting GETESA delegation had the opportunity to visit Camtel’s technical installations.

GETESA, the public telecommunications company of Equatorial Guinea has been facilitating connectivity and communications since 1987, and today provides phone, Internet and mobile services.

In the energy sector, GETESA supports businesses through its national network coverage and Internet provision. GETESA’s main objective is to be the best operator in Equatorial Guinea and become a Central African platform where engineers are trained, new business models are deployed and where start-ups and initiatives are generated.

As the leading operator in Equatorial Guinea, GETESA hopes to manage the growth of companies from Equatorial Guinea and focus on the development of the Central African market.
Because of its fast mobile network, GETESA is a leader in network coverage, customer service and technology.

The main milestone the company has had is the extension of 3G and 4G coverage to all cities in Equatorial Guinea and the increase in broadband coverage.
As the largest operator in the country, their operations extend to all sectors, including the oil and gas sector.

The company offers integrated solutions to corporations for global communication for both mobile and fixed applications. These services are most effective within the energy sector.
