The General Manager of Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel), Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, has been voted as the pioneer president of the association of telecommunications operators of the Central Africa Sub Region.

That was during the two days constituent general assembly of the association that ended in Yaoundé – Cameroon on Thursday December 16, 2021.

The assembly saw the birth of the association after telecom experts elaborated it’s statutes, internal rules and regulations and other binding documents.

The creation of the association and its assigned objectives cannot be over emphasized especially at a time when digital transformation has taken a global dimension.

“We are all incumbent telecoms operators of the Central Africa Sub Region and it was important that we create a platform where we can discuss about our various challenges and see how we can exchange best practices and take our different organizations to the level where they are supposed to belong.” The pioneer president, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, told journalists in Yaounde at the end of the assembly.

Speaking during the Yaounde cometogether, the General Manager of SudaChad Telecommunications, Khaled ALHASSAN, said the existence of the association is going to be good news for the people of the Sub Region and Africa in general. To him, it’s going to drive many other industries like Education, Medicine just to name but these.

“In the long run, we will be able to conclude that a new era has begun in the telecoms sector in Central Africa.” Judith Yah Sunday said.

During the assembly, the board of the association was fully constituted and the General Manager of Camtel, who is pioneer president would be assisted by the General Manager of the telecom organ in the Democratic Republic of Congo (SCPT), Mr. Didier MUSETE, as Vice President.

Two secretaries were voted into the board. The General Manager of Congo Telecom, Yves CASTANOU, as Permanent Secretary assisted by the General Manager of SPIN Gabon, Axéle KISSANGOU-MOUELE.

The financial department would be headed by the General Manager of SOTEL Chad, Elyse GOLDOM.

The different telecom general manager seperated in Yaounde with a zeal to see change management of the telecom sector in 2022 through the activities of the association.

The association comprises incumbent operators of Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon and Republic of Congo.
