They are not happy with measures taken by the government reducing the number of passengers in a bus.

Most of the buses of the Agencies are grounded as the proprietors meet in a crisis meeting this morning.

Field report indicates that those on strike are buses plying the Yaounde – Ebolowa highway.

Consequently, clandestine transport vehicles who continue to ply the road have almost doubled the fare.

Yaounde – Ebolowa that used to be 1500 FCFA is now 2500 FCFA.

Sources indicate that Taxi Drivers in the city of Yaounde are planning a similar move for similar reasons.

The Minister of transport recently signed a release indicating the number of passenger per Commercial Moto Bike, Taxis and Inter – Urban buses.

Bikes: 2 passengers including the rider

Taxis: 4 passengers including the Driver ( two in front seat and two behind)

Inter Urban Buses: not more than 50 passenger per 70 seater buses, and 20 or less for 30 seater buses.

This is a developing story
