Most if not all football lovers in Bamenda have saluted the idea of a modern stadium in the town.
“It was a welcomed announcement, we appreciate it, remember the English Speaking people always say it is better to be late than never. We are glad that this announcement was finally made,” says Hon. Agho Oliver, member of Parliament for Bafut-Tubah Constituency.
Moves to see a modern stadium erected in Bamenda did not start today, and the former Secretary General of Fecafoot North West has been spearheading the initiative.

“Remember shortly after the election of Fecafoot president and other executive members of Fecafoot last year, I sounded it loud and clear that football in the North West region was of age, and since then, together with the regional president of Fecafoot and other political elite of the North West, we have made it a point of duty to always cry out and to always lobby and to always look for ways and means that this dreams can come true”, he said.
The president of Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o Fils finally made the announcement during a seminar in Yaounde.
“We will begin with the North West region. Bamenda will have it’s first up to standard stadium”, Eto’o Fils revealed.

The choice to begin with Bamenda was not by chance
“Remember we are the defending Champions of the cup of Cameroon, with over four clubs in the professional elite championship (Division 1 and 2) with more than 20 clubs in the regional league without a football pitch, this deprivation was too much”, Hon. Agho Oliver told News Upfront.
The wish of most football lovers in the region now is to see the project come to fruition.
“We want to again say we the peace loving people of the North West, the football loving community of the North West are happy about this announcement, and we pray that it should come through soonest”, Hon. Agho said.
Hon. Agho Oliver is very instrumental in football in the North West region. He is the brain behind the respective successes of Bafut Rangers now in the elite 1 competition.

Samuel Eto’o Fils it should be noted had promised during his campaign to construct ultramodern stadia in all the regions of the country.
He has already spent six (06) months at the helm of the federation.
