At New Deal Anniversary: CPDM Bafut-Tubah Constituency Empowers Children of Martyrs

The 40th anniversary of the ascension to power of president Paul Biya was a perfect occasion for top CPDM scribes from the Bafut-Tubah constituency in the North West region of Cameroon to empower children of some fallen heroes of the party.

Information gathered from reliable sources indicate that children of CPDM militants who died while serving the party are going through difficult moments. Some have dropped out of school, while others are now Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

Some 15 children were identified and honoured with financial and material assistance from top CPDM elite of the constituency.

“These children are like our children, they need to go back to school and get on their feet”, Hon. Agho Oliver said.

Hon. Agho is Parliamentarian for Bafut-Tubah constituency in Mezam Division, North West region.

Besides didactic materials and blankets, the children each received an envelope worth FCFA 40.000 for secondary school students and FCFA 30.000 for primary school pupils.

“We are equally assuring those in examination classes that their registration and other examination dues shall be paid”, Hon. Agho said.

The gesture was saluted by militants and sympathisers of the ruling party who gathered at the Bafut council premises on suSund November 6, 2022 to say thank you to the president of the Republic, Paul Biya, for supporting them regain their farm lands after suffering huge losses as a result of the Anglophone Crisis.

“Empowering the children was just a better way to recognise the heroes”, they said.

Hon. Agho Oliver was accompanied in the celebration by the Mayor of Bafut, who doubles as CPDM section president for that locality, Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence, and other political elite.

Mayor Ngwakongoh Lawrence enjoined the militants to “work together for peace in the community and make Bafut a reference.”

The 40th anniversary of the ascension to power of the new deal government was observed under the theme, “Let us further strengthen our mobilisation behind President Paul Biya to jointly pursue a nation building actions with one heart, peace and stability under the prism and spirit of National New Deal”.

It was a reconciliatory ground for party militants who were opposed to each other at the end of the recent re-organization of CPDM party organs.

The representative of the YCPDM section president encouraged young people to constantly take advantage of programmes put at their disposal such as the triennial youth plan and the presidential plan for the reconstruction and development of the North West and South West regions.

Just like in Bafut-Tubah constituency, the celebration held all over the national territory.
