The Minister of Communication who doubles as Government spokesperson, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, in a press briefing, hours to the protests says Cameroonians are matured enough to be manipulated.
The communication from Minister Sadi had a strong message to Cameroonians.
“The Government, through my voice, exhorts Cameroonian men and women at home and abroad, not to heed to the thoughtless and senseless call for an uprising, and to thwart as usual, destabilzation maneuvers where ever they come from, and to go about their daily activities in all serenity.”
The Minister said.
The Government of Cameroon, reaffirmed that the Cameroonian people in their majority are peace-loving and should show that to the world on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
“… The Government of Cameroon once again appeals to the maturity, sense of responsibility and civic-mindedness of the Cameroonian people who, for their vast majority, we must proudly say, have never allowed themselves to be misguided by unscrupulous politicians who are more concerned and blinded by their outrageous selfish ambitions than by the stakes and interest of the people and the nation as a whole.” The Minister added.
According to the Government spokesperson, the announced protests would not in anyway disturb the holding of the December 6, 2020 first ever Regional Council Elections.
“… The President of the Republic, using his high prerogative, is better placed than anyone else to assess the timeliness and conditions for the organization of the elections…”
Organiser of Tuesday’s Nationwide Protests, the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) and it’s allies are determined to carry on with the demonstrations despite heavy military presence in most major junctions in the country.
The objective of the protests according to Prof. Maurice Kamto, is to outrightly call for the departure of President Paul Biya from power.
