Cameroon’s historic Telecom operator, Camtel, is ready for the draw of the up coming Afcon 2021 competition to hold on August 17, 2021.

The observation was made Friday August 13, 2021 by the General Manager of Camtel, Judith Yah Sunday, during a visit to the events site at the Yaounde Conference Cemter.

“I am glad not only that Camtel has been up to the task on a short notice, but that we have reserved more than what the continental football body, CAF and FIFA had requested.” Madam Judith Yah Sunday, told reporters at the end of her visit to the Conference Center.

The visit took the GM to the main hall where the draw would be made, the conference/media center of the competition as well as CRTV’s installations linked to the competition especially the outdoor broadcasting unit attached to the Conference Center.

At each stage, explanations from the different technicians from Camtel show that all is set for the draws to hold on August 17, 2021 as from 6:00 PM.

Camtel’s Expertise at the Service of Total Afcon 2021

Cameroon’s Telecommunication is the main digital partner of the African Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon.

Initially the draw was to hold on June 25th 2021, but due to some reasons, organisers had to pushed it to August 17, and the venue was changed from the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex to the Yaounde Conference Center.

Camtel was notified barely two weeks to the event, but due to the customer centricity and change management system put in place by the General Manager of the company, the staff were able to work day and night to meet and even surpass the demands of CAF and FIFA.

The Telecom operator has been able to provide high quality internet connection at the Conference Center, and connect the Yaounde Conference Center to the main broadcaster of the event, CRTV.

11 KMs of high level connection from the Conference Center to the TV house in Mball II, and 6KMs from the Conference Center to the Radio house have been assured by Camtel.

This is to ensure a smooth broadcast of the draws billed for August 17.

At the level of the Conference Center, precisely the main hall for the draw expected to contain about 650 persons, Camtel has provided connection that can contain video, audio and Wireless interactions for 1000 people, more than the expectation of CAF and FIFA.

An innovation this year during the competition is the setting up of a Virtual Press Conference where journalists from outside Cameroon would have the opportunity to participate directly in the conferences, and that alone needs special internet connection.

Camtel has to that effect reserved a special connection for that plus backups in case of any eventuality.

Worth noting is the fact that the various installations done by Camtel were in the presence of CAF and FIFA technicians who at every stage provided contributions for a successful event come August 17.

Even the Director of the Yaounde Conference Center, Christophe Mien Zok, who has been very instrumental in assisting the installations lauded the expertise of Camtel.
