On behalf of the Government of Cameroon, the Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji, has instructed Regional Governors to reinforce security in their respective territories.
The Minister was speaking Monday November 17, 2020 at the end of the second semester conference of Governors for 2020.
The two days conference took place at the Yaounde City Council hall.
After presentations on the security situation in the country, from the Police and Gendarmerie bosses and the various Regional Governors, the Minister of Territorial Administration delivered instructions from the President of the Republic.
“The head of state H. E. Paul Biya wants the first ever Regional Elections to be organized in all the Sub Divisions across the country, and you all must work for that to happen” Atanga Nji told the Governors.
To the Governors of the Far North, East, North West and South West regions, the message was clearer.
“This is not the time to sleep, I have instructed the Governors to be on the alert” Atanga Nji added.
South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, talking to the press indicated that life is gradually returning to normalcy in the region.
His colleague of the North West region, Adolphe Lele L’ Afrique, is optimistic that the Regional Council Elections will be organized smoothly across the region because his collaborators are already at work.
Governor Awa Fonka Augustine of West region told News Upfront that measures have been put in place to filter IDPs entering into the region so that potential criminals would not make their way through and become a threat to the peaceful population of the West.
In the Littoral region, the recent wave of insecurity provoked by armed young guys popularly called “Microbes” is now a thing of the past thanks to the security disposition from Governor Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua.
Worth noting is the fact that the fresh security measures just come to add to what the Government has already put in place for the protection of the population.
