Members of the electoral board of the elections organizing body (Elecam) have resolved to work as a team ahead of the up coming polls.
The took the commitment during their first session as of right that held at their head office in Yaounde. The session was chaired by the president of the electoral board, Enow Abrams Egbe.
“I want to assure the people of Cameroon that Elecam is ready, very ready. The session as of right which we are holding this morning is first of all to acknowledge the decree of the President of the Republic convening the electoral college, and then we are going to put the neccesary action plan in place to be executed,” says the president of the electoral board of Elecam.

Enow Abrams Egbe during the session galvanised his collaborators into action indicating that they shall be deployed across the country in the days ahead to set the ball rolling by carrying out all relevant verifications and proximity checks that may be deemed neccesary.
“This will mainly involve reviewing the available electoral logistics, monitoring the process of updating the voters’ register, evaluating the socio-economic climate in the various constituencies with emphasis on regions affected by insecurity,” Enow Abrams said.
The president of the electoral board enjoined the board members to pay special attention to the smallest details before, during and after the up coming polls.
“We must maintain the same republican spirit and be guided by a sense of general interest,” Enow Abrams said in his speech.
These principles according to the president must be applied not only by Elecam board members but most especially by collaborators in the field.
The March 12, 2023 elections of senators is the first to be organized by the present electoral board members after their mandates were renewed and new members appointed last July 12, 2023 by the President of the Republic.
This alone is reason for the team in place to work towards boosting the credibility of the the structure.

“We have the ultimate objective to enhance and improve the image of our democracy,” says Enow Abrams Egbe.
Security Challenges not Challenging
The first session as of right of Elecam held after the board members just returned from their respective regions where they evaluated the effectiveness of Elecam’s activities as well as security situations in restive regions.
Special attention was given to the North West and South West regions of the country where some Non State Armed Groups (NSAG) are imposing security challenges in some areas.
“We are glad to say that the state of mind of our field collaborators in the restive regions is positive. Our recent mission to the North West region showed that everyone is ready and waiting for the polls,” Enow Abrams Egbe declared in a recent interview.
The government of Cameroon is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that there is security of both electoral materials and the electoral college.
In their last security meeting in Yaounde, regional governors were tasked to maintain peace and security in their respective regions.
Board members of Elections Cameroon have assured all aspiring candidates that everything is in order, calling on all the actors involved in the electoral process to respect the electoral code before, during and after the elections.
