A student of the University of Dschang in the West region of Cameroon has taken her own life after a misunderstanding with her elder brother.

The girl whose name News Upfront gathered as Yves Mbami, is reported to have consumed a poisonous substance commonly used to kill rats.

She died in the process, now considered a suicide.

The story goes that Yves Mbami got angry when the elder brother took sides with their junior sister whom she had punished.

She then felt frustrated according to the story.

Screenshots of her alleged discussion with friends are circulating on social media indicating that the students actually planned her death.

From the screenshots, one could read messages asking questions like can the intake of rat poison leads to one’s death?

Still on social media, sources closer to the family of Yves Mbami are confirming that the parents of the student on their way to identify the corpse died in the Dschang Cliff accident of Wednesday January 27, 2021.

News Upfront can not independently confirm the veracity of the statement.

But what we know is that it is not the first incident of this nature happening to a student in Dschang

A similar incident occurred in 2017, and the victim, Ernesta Farrhel Abena, did all to clear her bills before committing suicide.

In her case, her parents were already suspecting her of occultic practices.
