The victims are Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who considered Limbe I Sub Division as safe haven.

The population of Limbe I, are still to come to terms with the tragic incident that happened as early as 5:00 am Sunday April 19, 2020.

Reports Indicate that the IDPs were still asleep in their room constructed with wood when a nearby fence collapsed on the “plank” building at Caterpillar Field Quarter in Limbe I Sub Division.

The two victims (all ladies) have been identified as 29 years old Lum Ngwa Edith and 25 years old Nguegang Ngwa Comfort, all from Bafut in Mezam Division of the North West region.

A third victim Mbue Emmanuel from Moyuka was rescued by the population and is presently responding to treatment at the Limbe Regional Hospital.

They were all in the town of friendship running away from excesses of the Anglophone crisis from their respective restive areas.

The accident is alleged to have been caused by the heavy down pour that hit the town all night breaking Sunday April 19.

According to the new City Mayor of the town of Limbe, Motanga Andrew Monjimba, poor building construction is part of the cause of the accident.

Limbe in the South West region of Cameroon has been relatively calm compared to other towns where seperatist fighters have transformed into their strongholds.
