The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, MINHDU has constructed and continue to construct state owned residential areas across the country, and the vision of the government is for the occupants to have access to all digital services available.
“It is very important that CAMTEL should be able to provide quality and high speed internet services to inhabitants of state lodging facilities”, Minister Ketcha Courtes, of MINHDU said during the signing ceremony of the convention.
The deal sealed on Monday July 18, 2022 is very timely.
“It is important that we do anticipate and make sure that we provide these services to the community”, CAMTEL’s General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi said.
Reading through the terms of the convention, it is clear that henceforth, CAMTEL would be implicated at most of the stages of construction projects which will require digital services.
“We do not want again that the structures are built before we provide these services, that is what the convention is all about”, Judith Yah Sunday said.
CAMTEL will have to connect the state owned low-cost houses to the optic fibre network of the country.
“This is a milestone achievement which will improve on the quality of life in the residential areas”, Minister Ketcha Courtes said.
By anticipating and introducing digital services at the start of each project spearheaded by MINHDU, it will safe cost, time and energy.
CAMTEL it should be noted is actually at the heart of digital transformation in Cameroon, especially as the country intends to become emergent by 2035.
