The Republic of Cameroon has paid final tributes to the fallen Statesman Simon Achidi Achu, who died on the 4th of May 2021, in the United States of America.

The official burial ceremony took place at the weekend in his native Santa village, Mezam Division of the North West region of Cameroon.

President Paul Biya, was represented at the funeral by Prime Minister and Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute.

During the event, Late Simon Achidi Achu, was raised to that rank of “Grand Cordon of the Cameroon Order of Merit”.

Government officials, politicians, religious and traditional leaders from across the country were present at the funeral that held amidst tight security following the restive nature of the Anglophone regions.

Just like it has been the case through out the funeral of the former Prime Minister of Cameroon, former vice President of the Upper House of Assembly (Senate), Simon Achidi Achu, was again honoured in Santa with a message from the Head of State, Paul Biya.

Prior to the burial in Santa, Civil honours were officially presented to Simon Achidi Achu, during an event at the Yaounde Sports complex in Warda.

The Warda ceremony to honour and pay tributes to the very right Honourable Simon Achidi Achu took place on Friday July 2, 2021.

Members of Government, Clergies, Politicians and Cameroonians at large gathered to bid him farewell.

His former close collaborator at the star building, Seecretary General at the PMs office during his reign, one time Minister of Defence, Remy Ze Meka, in his testimony refered to Pa Achidi as a man of humility, wisdom, courage, a visionary and pragmatic politician.

One of Pa Achidi’s Ministers during his reign, Joseph Owona, equally took the rostrum and described him as a high class pragmatic politician.

The right Honourable Achidi Achu, was not only examplary in the political domain.

A pure product of CPC Bali, the president of the Bali Old Boys Association (BOBA) Yaounde Chapter, Barrister Duga Titanji, said Pa Achidi was a father of the second and third generations of BOBA, owing to his unmatched contributions to the growth and development of the school.

The fallen Statesman described across Cameroon’s political chessboard as an iconic leader, unifier, social equalizer, philanthropist, Right Honourable Simon Achidi Achu, it should be noted demystified politics with famous slogans like, “Politics na Njangi” and “Scratch Ma Back, a Scratch ya own”

Highpoint during the ceremony was the statements from the family of the former PM, co-presented by his wife, Ma Mafor Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, and Jude Achu, Pa Achidi’s eldest son.

It was a message of thanks addressed to all and sundry for contributing to the success of the funeral in one way or the other.

Jude Achu, declared that the Achidi’s family will for ever remain indebted to Cameroon and it’s President Paul Biya and is ready to continue from where their father and husband, Pa Achidi Achu, ended.
