The Njinteh Water Extension Project has received a major boost following a FCFA 500,000 donation from the Member of Parliament for the Bafut–Tubah Constituency in the North West Region, Hon. Agho Oliver Bamenju.
The donation fulfills a pledge made by the lawmaker during a fund-raising ceremony organised in Yaounde by the Njinteh Development and Cultural Association (NDECA) to mobilise resources for the extension of the community water project.
Although Hon. Agho Oliver was out of the country at the time of the event. He did not hesitate to commit the sum in support of the initiative.
True to his word, the MP, upon his return, contacted officials of the project and officially handed over the money in cash on Monday, February 2, 2026.
“The support given by the MP will go a long way to move the project forward,” said Ngwa Petus, Project Chairman of NDECA, describing the gesture as timely and encouraging for the community.
Handing over the contribution, Hon. Agho Oliver praised NDECA for taking the lead in addressing the community’s water challenges, noting that the initiative will significantly improve living conditions in Njinteh. He further expressed his readiness to always stand with the people of Njinteh God willing.

“I can not sit back and watch my people go through challenges when I have a chance to support,” the MP said, reaffirming his commitment to community-driven development.
The Njinteh Water Extension Project is aimed at tackling persistent water shortages, particularly during the dry season. The existing water scheme, implemented by NDECA, has become unreliable as water levels at the original catchment drop significantly in the dry season, leaving the village’s 13 public stand taps dry for long periods.
To address this situation, NDECA constructed a new water catchment and launched the extension project to improve water flow to ensure a more reliable supply for the population.
Once completed, the project is expected to reduce water-borne diseases, which mostly affect women and children, and ease the burden on children who trek long distances in search of water during the dry season.
The donation from Hon. Agho Oliver adds to his record of interventions across the Bafut–Tubah Constituency, where he has supported several development initiatives in different villages.
Meanwhile, NDECA continues to appeal for additional support. According to Project Chairman Ngwa Petus, contributions from individuals, elites, NGOs, and government authorities remain crucial to fully realise the project.
“We hope the Mayor will come to our aid with pipes,” Ngwa Petus said, noting that the cost of the required pipes is estimated at about FCFA 2.5 million.
