In a bit to curb the spread of the Corona Virus pandemic in the region, the Governor of the Southwest region, Bernard Okalia Bilai has called on all public service seekers to wear protective mask before appearing in public offices.

Wearing of mask which is one of the recommendations of Cameroon’s ministry of Public Health and the World Health Organisation, WHO as a preventive measure against Covid-19, has become law in the Region through a communique signed on April 4, 2020.

The communique also makes the facial masks mandatory to personnel of the different structures.

This order takes effect from Monday April 6, 2020.
“As from Monday the 6 of April 2020 till further notice, all those visiting public services in the Region MUST put on a protective mask before accessing these services,” he stated.

This measure comes less than a week that the chief executive officer of the region, ordered for a new consumption habit in the region in order to fight Covid-19. By the order eating at restaurants and drinking in beer parlours became a taboo but the public could buy and carry home for consumption.

Similarly, the Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji has issued a communique stating that access to his ministry will be granted only to persons wearing face mask with effect from Monday April 6.

The region of Mount Fako has registered two cases of the virus with one dead.
