The giant Telecommunications company, Huawei has presented the advantages of its AGRI-TECH Project to the government of Cameroon with the aim of reinforcing it’s partnership in the country.

The presentation was done on Monday March 22, 2021 in Yaoundé through an audience granted to Huawei officials by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbairobé.

By deciding to collaborate with the Agriculture Ministry, Huawei intends to contribute its own quota in designing policies that will develop the Agriculture industry.

The AGRI-TECH Project is a perfect opportunity to translate the vision into action.

During the online audience, Huawei’s Vice President in charge of Public Relations for Sub Saharan and Northern Africa, Loise Tamalgo, presented in details the AGRI-TECH projet which is an industrial agricultural solution.

The importance of the project cannot be over emphasized when 65% of the population in Cameroon are into Agriculture and mostly in rural areas, and 85% of the population in Africa live in rural zones.

Loise Tamalgo, revealed that Huawei’s digital solutions are adapted to the African context and mostly in rural zone with the AGRI-TECH Project being a perfect example.

“Agriculture is a major pillar in Africa, we can’t think of Africa’s development without agriculture, the AGRI-TECH Project is sub divided into two dimensions. The first is based on a 5G technology connection to collect reliable data with drones which would be exploited in drafting policies and making informed decisions. The second is focused on supporting developing startups at local levels so that they can explore the local innovations in the agriculture sector” Loise Tamalgo explained.

Cameroon’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbairobé, who listened keenly to the presentation from Huawei did not hesitate to praise the expertise of the Telecom Company.

He praised the demonstrataions on how 5G is applied in different sectors of life like Health, Education, Industry, Security.

“These are fruitful and strategic partnerships, that is why we happily welcome you with the AGRI-TECH Project. We believe Digitising agriculture will boost the sector. We are open to all possibilities hoping that our collaboration would be fruitful” Minister Mbairobé said.

The minister seized the audience to present some of the digital transformation projects of the government linked to his ministry such as e-learning, connectivity of agricultural training schools, information system on climate issues among others.

The Chinese Telecom giant it should be noted is leaving no stone unturned in promoting and providing digital solutions to Cameroon since 2018, within the framework of a strategic partnerships agreement on transformation and digital development signed between Cameroon and China.

Huawei is a priority partner of the government of Cameroon in the construction of Telecommunications infrastructure with Camtel, through Smart cities with the Delegate General for National Security and Solar Energy centres in rural areas.
