The ‘Access to Love’ campaign was officially launched on Friday, December 20, 2024 through a series of events organized across the country, one of which was held at Mada International College – Yaounde.

At the launch

The campaign which aims at making school environments safe, secure and prosperous is an initiative of Local Youth Corner and powered by Cameroonian musician, Tohnain Anthony Nguo, popularly known as Magasco.

“The idea is to eradicate the different forms of violence that we have in our society especially now that they’re becoming rampant in schools,” Magasco told reporters during the launch in Yaounde.

Partnering with renowned Cameroonian artist Magasco, LOYOC seeks to empower students to address pressing issues such as violence, rape, and substance abuse.

By constituting ‘Access to Love’ clubs, students will engage in creative problem-solving through art, music, poetry, and other expressive outlets.

“We need you to eradicate all forms of violence in the school milieu and we want you to become ambassadors of love,”  Magasco said.

Magasco talking to the press at the end of the launch

The campaign launch coincided with the creation of the first ‘Access to Love’ club in school precisely at Mada International College.

“The choice of MADA is a great acknowledgement,” says Foinmujang Calistus, principal of Mada.

“We have been carrying out activities to end violence in our school like the institution of peace clubs, but we are not experts in the domain. Having Local Youth Corner come with their expertise, it will go along way to help us in the fight.”

Throughout the campaign that will end in February 2025, students from various participating institutions will take it upon themselves to develop conflict resolution skills, promote emotional intelligence and empathy, encourage peer support and solidarity, and foster inclusive and non-violent school environments.

According to promoters of the initiative, the best proposed solutions from the students will be rewarded.

Worth noting is the fact that LOYOC’s dedication to youth empowerment and Magasco’s influential voice will undoubtedly make a lasting impact.
