As the 2025 presidential campaign draws to a close, the South Region has once again reaffirmed its loyalty to President Paul Biya.

The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, on Friday, October 10, led a massive CPDM rally in Ebolowa, urging the population to translate their support into votes for the Head of State on October 12.

The event, which marked the end of the campaign trail in the South Region, brought together thousands of militants and sympathizers in what observers described as a “vote-sealing moment” for the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM).

“Your presence here shows your unshakable support for the Head of State,” Dion Ngute told the cheering crowd. “In 2018, the South gave over 92% of its votes to President Paul Biya. This year, we are ready to give 100%.”

The Prime Minister highlighted major development projects achieved under Biya’s leadership — from the creation of the University of Ebolowa, the Higher Institute of Maritime Studies, and the Cameroon-Congo Inter-State University, to ongoing road infrastructure like the Kribi-Lolabe Highway, Sangmélima-Djoum, and Grand Zambi–Kribi roads.

He added that government efforts will continue to focus on projects such as the Edea–Kribi and Kribi–Ebolowa (via Akom II) roads to further improve living conditions in the region.

“These are tangible results of President Biya’s vision for a modern and prosperous Cameroon,” the Prime Minister noted, calling on the population to “stay united behind the natural candidate of the CPDM.”

The City Mayor of Ebolowa, Daniel Edjo’o, expressed gratitude to the Head of State for ending the regional campaign in their city. He pledged total victory for Biya, saying, “President Paul Biya remains the only choice of the South Region. We are working until the last minute to ensure that no vote goes to the opposition.”

The Anglophone community in Ebolowa also declared its backing for Biya. Their president, Betang Theophile, said they have enjoyed peace and opportunity under the current leadership. “We are strongly behind President Paul Biya because he has done a lot for us. On Sunday, we’ll give him 100%,” he affirmed.

Taking the stage, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, Minister of Higher Education and CPDM campaign chief for the South Region, said none of the other eleven candidates could challenge Biya’s credibility or record.

“Show me one who can face him,” he said. “All I see are dreamers with unrealistic promises. Paul Biya remains our only choice.”

As the rally ended, chants of “Paul Biya! Victory!” filled the Ebolowa ceremonial ground. For many, it was more than just a campaign event — it was a final statement of loyalty from the South Region, traditionally one of the CPDM’s strongest bases.

Despite political realignments marked by the withdrawal of allies like the FSNC of Issa Tchiroma and UNDP of Bello Bouba Maigari, the atmosphere in Ebolowa left no doubt: the South Region is poised to deliver yet another overwhelming victory for President Paul Biya on October 12.
