The New United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cameroon and the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development have met to strengthen cooperation ties in view of promoting growth and development in the country.
The Resident Coordinator, Mathias Z. Naab, was received in audience at the Ministry Wednesday January 13, 2021.
The meeting was an opportunity for the 4-month-old Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Systems in Cameroon to officially present the objectives of his term of office in Cameroon.
According to Mathias Z. Naab, his stay in the country would be dedicated to assist Cameroon implement it’s new National Development Strategy which was recently launched.
“We shall do our best to allign with the strategic development plan so that together, we can work to alleviate the situation of the vulnerable in the country,” Mathias Z. Naab told reporters after the audience.
The choice to visit the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT, was not by chance.
“This Ministry, MINEPAT, is our entry point for cooperations with the Government of Cameroon,” the Resident Coordinator said, adding that Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey is doing a wonderful job at the helm of the Ministerial Department.
The novel Coronavirus pandemic did not leave the personalities indifferent.
Mathias Z. Naab, told the press at the end of the audience that the UN would assist the Government of Cameroon in its Covid-19 Response Plan.
Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey on his part praised the rich and fruitful cooperation between Cameroon and the UN systems in Cameroon which has gone a long way to improve on the living conditions of the population and would definitely help the Government achieve it’s vision of an emergent country by 2021.
