The newly elected president of the Menchum Journalist Union (MEJU), Cham Victor Bama, says Journalists are better placed to transform and construct mindsets of those living in communities in view of putting them on the right track.
He was speaking shortly after his election in Yaounde, Friday November 19, 2021.
“The population needs accurate information through the Journalists who we are, and we are well placed to better transform mindsets through effective rural communication” Cham Victor Bama said.
The present mandate of the new MEJU executive is placed on the sign of peace.
“It is a new era that I have just picked and I think it’s a matter of being optimistic about the new era because it is an era of peace, and we are out to unite and build using peaceful instruments…. So I think that the most important vision now is peace.” Cham Victor, MEJU president said.
The vision of the new MEJU president is not only in Menchum division but goes beyond according to it’s president.
“…When you are at peace and your neighbour is not at peace, there is a problem, so we will look not only within Menchum but beyond. We encourage other Divisions to also come up with their own initiatives, so that together at our respective areas, we can build constructive peace.” He said.
The native of Weh village in Fungom Sub Division, Menchum Division of the North West region, was elected alongside a dynamic executive that will together work toward transforming mindsets in the community through local communication.

Cham Victor Bama, president of MEJU it should be noted is Publisher of Municipal Update and Chronicle Times newspapers.
The Menchum Journalists Union was created in 2015 to bring together Journalists from the Menchum Division, North West Region of Cameroon.
The Union welcomes members who trace their origin back to Menchum, have worked/practiced, or have lived in Menchum for one reason or another.
