Story, Ghatim Patience

In the heart of Cameroon, a local company, “SOCIÉTÉ FRANÇOIS SANTE”, has been making waves with its popular health balm, “Bome François”.

Despite facing regulatory challenges, the company remains committed to providing relief to Cameroonians who have come to rely on the product.

“I’ve been using Bome François for months now, and it’s been a game-changer for my family,” says Mrs. Ndoh, a satisfied customer in Yaounde.

Bome François was born out of the COVID-19 pandemic as a solution to cough, catarrh, and other infections.

Its popularity soared, becoming one of the highest-selling products in the country’s main cities in 2024 owing to feedback from the numerous sales agents, and thanks to its effective marketing strategy and word-of-mouth endorsements.

However, in the heart of the company’s success, the National Order of Pharmacists in Cameroon wrote to the Minister in 2024, expressing concerns about the product’s composition and its potential threat to the population.

This led to a ban on production, with the company being asked to conform to legislation and obtain certification.

Despite these setbacks, SOCIÉTÉ FRANÇOIS SANTE remains determined to overcome the regulatory hurdles.

The company’s promoter, François Desire Ekouma Ananga, has been working tirelessly to register the company in the health sector and obtain quality norms for its products.

“We’ve respected all instructions from the Minister of Public Health to the fullest,” says Ekouma Ananga. “However, on the side of the administration, there are bottlenecks that are hindering our progress. We’re calling on the authorities to facilitate our registration process and lift the ban on production.”

The company has even addressed a memorandum to President Paul Biya, highlighting the challenges faced and seeking his intervention.

As the company navigates these challenges, it’s clear that Bome François has become more than just a product – it’s a symbol of resilience and determination.

With its commitment to providing quality healthcare solutions, SOCIÉTÉ FRANÇOIS SANTE is a shining example of local innovation and entrepreneurship.

The main challenge now is for the Cameroonian government to finally recognize the value of Bome François and provide the necessary support for its growth.

One thing is certain – SOCIÉTÉ FRANÇOIS SANTE will continue to fight for its right to provide quality healthcare solutions to the people of Cameroon.
