It has become a tradition for the Belinda Babila Foundation to celebrate women’s day by empowering women in one way or the other. This year 2024, the foundation opened its women’s day activities in Cameroon with a sports walk dubbed “National Peace Walk”.
The activity was carried out on Sunday, March 3rd together with women of the Mabanda Women’s Association (OFM) in Bonaberi, Douala IV sub division of the Littoral region.
“We thank the Belinda Babila Foundation for initiating this laudable partnership,” says Ngwa Mary, president of OFM.
“I am very very much satisfied with the success of the event.”
Close to a hundred women and young girls dressed in t-shirts, marched along the streets of Bonaberi, brandishing messages valorizing women and their activities in the society.
On the placards, one could read that “women are the source of every human existence on earth”. The messages showed that “women are fearless, vision bearers”, and their creativity knows no bounds.
Besides the sports peace walk, the Belinda Babila Foundation equally organized training workshops for the women to empower them as they celebrate their day.
“We learned how to produce detergents, and how to dye materials,” says Ngwa Mary.
Gifts were provided to vulnerable families in the Douala IV sub division.
One of the participants told News Upfront that “we need to stop depending on men, we have to be independent, with this support from BBF, we are now going to show the difference in society”.
According to the CEO of the Belinda Babila Foundation, Dr. Belinda Babila, women in Cameroon need to believe in themselves. They deserve all the accolades and celebration, reason for the Women’s day activity organized by the BBF.
By thanking and wishing well to the foundation, the happy women expressed hope for such events to be multiplied.
