The aim of the visit was to inform the military personnel about Camtel’s role in threat prevention.
It’s no secret that information and communication technologies play a key role in securing goods and people. Cameroon’s Ministry of Defence therefore appointed Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) to present the very best in digital technology to its prestigious guests.
The event took place on Tuesday 13 June 2023. The 40 trainee officers and their 10 managers were received by Ottou Francis, Technical Adviser No. 1, the personal representative of Camtel’s Director General. The theme of their mission was: “The African approach to combating multifaceted threats to African states: the case of Cameroon”.
Bienvenu Offono, Head of the Management Control and Revenue Assurance Division, said that Blue’s parent company is a multi-faceted behemoth.
The impact of digital on the development of the digital economy in Cameroon is great, thanks in part to Camtel. The Zamengoé data centre, mobile, fixed-line and transport operating licences, and exclusive rights to opticsl fibre were all points that impressed the trainees of the Ivorian institution.
Camtel has thus confirmed its status as a learning hub for foreign defence forces visiting Cameroon on study tours.
At the end of the meeting, a meal, offered by the top management and concocted by the Camtel Club, gave professionals in the arms trade the opportunity to savour Cameroon’s culinary diversity.
The visit of the 4th Advanced Defence Studies Course in Zambrako, is part of the strengthening of the South-South cooperation between the two sister countries of Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire.
Camtel, the State’s telecommunications arm, is playing its part to the full in fostering this cordial understanding
