One of the striking resolution taken during the South West peace and development forum was on the peace building process in the country. Participants all agreed that the peace forum should serve as a compass towards the realization of president Paul Biya’s call for peace in the restive North West and South West regions.

Peace is priceless they say, and their desire to achieve peace is primordial.

“The South West region has aligned its actions with the peace initiative and the development vision of the Head of State, H. E Paul Biya,” says Balungeli Confiance Ebune, personal representative of the Prime Minister at the forum.

According to the chairman of the steering committee of the presidential plan for the reconstruction and development of the North West and South West regions of Cameroon, “it is only through peace that we can have meaningful development and make our region a reference”.

After listening to the resolutions of the peace and development forum, Balungeli Confiance Ebune, at the close of the deliberations told the participants that he is going to report in details to the powers that be, for more actions to be taken in favour of the South West region.

“The Prime Minister has asked me to reassure you before hand that ears and eyes of government are particularly attentive to the resolutions of this forum,” he said.

He however reminded the participants at the forum that team work is the best option to make the dream work.

“May I reiterate, the need for us to work with all the living forces of our region for our collective development,” Balungeli Confiance said.

The PM’s envoy reminded officials of the South West regional assembly that they are a republican institution, and would have a duty to work with the Republic in achieving the peace building processes of the Head of State.

“The South West regional assembly should prepare the population for this task,” the PM’s envoy said.

“The PM also asked me to once more reiterate the call of the Head of State to our youths who are still holding arms in the bushes to drop their arms and that elites from this region should make it happen,” he added.

“Remember that development has no colour, no political party, no tribe nor religion, when a road passes is serves everyone.”

During the forum, a presentation on peace and conflict resolution was made, with a strong recommendation that the points raised be implemented on the field.

While encouraging more peace efforts to be initiated, the PM’s envoy noted with satisfaction the determination of the people of the South West region to pursue the much-needed peace that has eluded the region for the past 6 years, hence the motivation of the organisation of the first ever peace and development forum.

The forum to minister Balungeli Confiance Ebune, was an eloquent proof that the people of the South West region have their destiny in their hands.
