The training organised by the Sputnik Press Agency and International Radio held on Wednesday September 14, 2022 through videoconference (Moscow – Yaounde).
The session was in line with the Sputnik Educative Project, SputnikPro.
Throughout the close to two (2) hours training workshop, the Editor-in-Chief of Sputnik Africa, Anthony Lefebvre, schooled the journalists on the current trends in journalism that will help increase audience.
“We are talking here about multimedia journalism which is something that contemporary journalists must embrace,” Anthony Lefebvre said.
“This helps the journalists to tell a particular story using different tools at the same time. We discussed the various possibilities to experiment creative formats like; video broadcast, streaming and podcasts…etc,” he continued.
It was the first time Cameroonian journalists are taking part in the Sputnik Educative Project dubbed SputnikPro.
“We are honoured and grateful to collaborate with the Russian Press Agency and International Radio, and we hope such workshops continue in a bid to help us grow our public relations and audience,” declared Eric Boniface Tchouakeu.
Eric Boniface Tchouakeu is the station manager of Radio Tiemeni Siantou.
Cameroonian blogger of the year 2021, who doubles as reporter of Radio Tiemeni Siantou, Louvier Kindo Tombe who followed the session keenly could not hide his feelings.
“There is nothing as exciting as listening to a Senior journalist. Anthony Lefebvre, was just on point, and I think it is time for our management at the radio to start thinking of implementing the possibilities outlined,” he said.
Radio Tiemeni Siantou (90.5FM) is one of the oldest private radio stations in Cameroon. Created in 1998, and based in Cameroon’s political capital, Yaounde, the radio covers the entire Center region of the country and part of the west region where it has a relay station.
It’s bilingual nature and online presence with programmes in both English and French makes it the most listened private radio station in the country.
The SputnikPro Educative Project, it should be noted is a project of the Russian Press Agency and Radio – Sputnik, destined to journalists, media managers, and university Students with the objective of developing professional links between them and foreign colleagues.
SputnikPro focuses on multimedia production, the role of international media organs, photo journalism, methods of detecting mal / mis information, among others.
The various session trainers are experienced media gurus with Russian media structures.
The project has trained over 5.000 persons from 80 countries since 2018.
